DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program was introduced at Lauriston in 1991. It is a two year pre-university course for Years 11 and 12, designed for students interested in gaining a liberal education. It also promotes international understanding and favours the student who may be moving from country to country. The IB Diploma is welcomed at Australian universities and at universitites in over 80 other countries as an entrance qualification. Certain faculties give unit credit for subjects taken at a higher level.

What is the IB?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The IB offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools.

The three IB programmes for students aged 3 to 19 help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. There are approximately one million IB students at over three thousand schools in more than 140 countries.
