Established in 1915, Ivanhoe Grammar School is a multi-campus, co-educational independent Anglican school with a proud tradition of academic, sporting and personal success. Buckley House caters for students from Early Learning to Year 6 and The Ridgeway Secondary Campus provides a unique 'pathway' for boys and girls from Years 7 to 10 and a fully co-educational setting in Years 11 and 12 to study either the International Baccalaureate (IB) or Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). The Plenty Campus at Mernda (30 kms north of Melbourne's CBD) is co-educational from Prep to Year 12. Ivanhoe Grammar School is a member of the Round Square international network of schools.

DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

The IB Diploma Course is offered at The Ridgeway Campus as an alternative to the Victorian Certificate of Education. At present, the school offers English A1 and Chinese A1, French B, Indonesian B, Japanese B, and English B, as well as Ab Initio Spanish. A full range of subjects is covered in the other International Baccalaureate groups, with the emphasis being on traditional academic subjects. A collaborative arrangement exists with nearby IB schools to allow IGS students to study an even broader range of subjects. A small boarding house exists for the use of some Diploma students. Others live in home-stay situations, while the majority are local students. Small classes give maximum attention to students. Results in past examinations are ample evidence of the thoroughness in preparation that helped our students achieve outstanding success, with some students gaining scholarships and special entry into a number of universities both in Australia and overseas.

What is the IB?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The IB offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools.

The three IB programmes for students aged 3 to 19 help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. There are approximately one million IB students at over three thousand schools in more than 140 countries.
