In a physically, emotionally and spiritually safe environment, students at St Leonard's College develop a sense of identity and self-worth as unique human beings. They develop the full range of general skills, literacies and numeracies required for living in and contributing to society and a love of learning and thriving in times of change. St Leonard's College students learn to appreciate the richness of fulfilment that the Christian tradition brings to their spiritual awareness and moral values. St Leonard's College is a school of the Uniting Church in Australia.

DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

Our commitment to international thinking was formalised in 1983 when we became the first independent school in Australia to teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. Approximately a quarter of our senior students choose to study the IB instead of the Victorian Certificate of Education. While a proportion of these do so because of its value as an international credential, the majority are attracted by the intrinsic qualities of the course, and the excellent preparation for tertiary studies it provides. We offer a wide range of IB subjects at both levels, and our staff include some of the most experienced and capable IB teachers to be found anywhere in the world.

What is the IB?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The IB offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools.

The three IB programmes for students aged 3 to 19 help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. There are approximately one million IB students at over three thousand schools in more than 140 countries.
