Indooroopilly State High School is a co-educational secondary school within the public education system of Education Queensland. Our direction is owned by our community, and we are supported by the resources of government. We are proud to be a multicultural school which celebrates the diversity of our community. We welcome students from many lands and nurture their talents. Our current enrolment is 656 students and our projected enrolment for 2007 is 860 students. We have 15 students starting our first cohort of the IB in 2006 and 25 students applying to start the IB in 2007. Indooroopilly State High School is located in the inner western suburbs of Brisbane, seven kilometres from the city, and just two kilometres from the University of Queensland. Indooroopilly State High School has adopted an independent ethos, placing emphasis on autonomy and mature relationships between student and teacher, where tasks are discussed and dissected, and where debate is open and welcome. We accept that this type of learning structure is unique. We are a school for young people who want to think responsibly, independently and creatively, and to work with others to learn. We are a school for young adults. What is the IB?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The IB offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools.

The three IB programmes for students aged 3 to 19 help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. There are approximately one million IB students at over three thousand schools in more than 140 countries.
