Scotch College is implementing the IBO Middle Years Programme. While a number of Australian schools have abandoned the Three R's for general studies aimed at "occupational competency", Scotch College has added two more R's: Responsibility and Relevance. At Scotch our teaching philosophy is aimed at providing an education: For the whole person To levels above the prevailing standard Of long term relevance in a changing world Scotch College is a school where teachers strive to recognise individuality, encourage personal excellence and provide learning relevant to each student's future life. The College employs a teacher for every 14 students. Teachers here continue to learn in order to continue to teach.

What is the IB?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The IB offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools.

The three IB programmes for students aged 3 to 19 help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. There are approximately one million IB students at over three thousand schools in more than 140 countries.
